Ballina Bearing Supplies · Client · Catalogue and shop
Turning accounting data and a handwritten stocktake into an online sales workflow.
1. Outcome
An online shop and part-number search for a regional bearings and filters supplier, built from the accounting system they already had.
2. The problem
Customers had to phone to ask whether a part was in stock. There was no online catalogue, and the accounting system held no stock quantities.
3. My responsibility
I owned the client relationship and the key decisions (Shopify over a custom build, MYOB's price as the shop price), ran discovery on site and directed Claude Code.
4. What was built
- A four-stage pipeline that turns MYOB data into Shopify products: build, enrich from the supplier's data, validate, bulk load.
- A Shopify store with weight-based postage and click and collect.
- A website that searches by interchange part number, so a customer can type in the number on their old filter.
- A stock ledger that works out what's on hand from the stocktake plus MYOB's sales report.

5. AI and controls
- Claude read 26 photographed pages of the handwritten stocktake into a spreadsheet.
- Claude Code wrote every script in the pipeline. The live shop runs no AI.
6. Evidence
- 980
products in the shop, 954 of them (97.3%) with a barcode and spec table
